Description
English: The Dharmaraj mandir at the Dharmatala lane of Shibpur Bazzar, is one of the oldest temple in Howrah, with lost proper history. It have one Vishnu and other images of Jarasur, Kali, Buffalo (as carrior) and other images in black stone. Some flares of the images show of Buddhist influence. It is assumed that the Vishnu image was made in the Pala - Sen period and the other deities were made before that. The present mandir was build by the local Zamindar Dutta Chowdhury. The present pujari Shri. Madhusudan Banerjee and his family worship every day and maintain like his ancestors.
