Description

English: A local waits to have his camel treated during a village veterinarian outreach program event in Maiwand district, Kandahar province, Afghanistan, Jan. 10. Afghan paraveterinarians and Afghan National Army Special Forces medics treated more than 300 local livestock including donkeys, camels, sheep, goats and a cow for parasites and common diseases. Outreach programs improve the health and livelihood of Afghans in rural areas, bolster the legitimacy of local government, and give villagers an opportunity to voice their concerns.
