Français : La villa Barbary, située au pied du village, est l’une des curiosités architecturales de Carros.
Cette maison de maître fut construite au XIXe siècle. Durant de nombreuses années elle fut la demeure du Docteur Fernand Barbary, Maire de Carros de 1921 à 1945. Léguée à l’Evêché par ses descendants, cette demeure devint ensuite une exploitation agricole. Les terrasses d’oliviers attenantes étaient cultivées et quelques vaches permettaient aux villageois de collecter leur lait jusque dans les années 1960. Cette belle demeure de style florentin, d’inspiration coloniale et art nouveau, est décorée de fresques au plafond et de carrelage d’origine sur quatre niveaux. La villa et son parc ont été rachetés par la commune en 1995. Depuis 2011, la villa Barbary accueille l’Office de Tourisme et la maison de l’artisanat. |
