Description

Euphorbia pulcherrima

Slovenčina: K Vianociam tradične patrí vianočná hviezda alebo ju tiež poznáme pod názvom vianočná ruža. Jej presný botanický názov je prýštec najkrajší (Euphorbia pulcherrima), známa je aj pod starším názvom mliečnik najkrajší. Exotická kráska pochádza z vlhkých hôr oblastí Strednej Ameriky, kde dorastá až do niekoľkometrovej výšky. Prvé exempláre sa do Európy dostali v roku 1834 z Mexika. O rozšírenie a symboliku tohto kra sa postarali brazílski misionári, ktorí ho vysádzali pri kostoloch a misiách v pralese.
