Summary
[edit]DescriptionVerditer Flycatcher facts 03.jpg |
English: The striking verditer flycatcher boasts vivid turquoise-blue plumage, with adult males featuring dark lores. In contrast, juveniles exhibit duller hues and grayer underparts. Often perched upright on exposed branches, it frequents lowland and hill forests as well as forest edges.
Known for its high and undulating song composed of burry or trilled notes, the most common call of this species is a strident "wheet!" Native to the Himalayas and spanning Southeast Asia to Sumatra, the verditer flycatcher derives its name from its distinct shade of copper-sulphate blue, accentuated by a dark patch between the eyes and above the bill base. This was photographed at Latpanchar, West Bengal, India |
