Description
English: The so-called "Vazerol obelisk" at the "Regierungsplatz" (also "Vazerolplatz") in Chur (Canton of the Grisons, Switzerland) with view to the "Reichsgasse" and the "Grey House" (the building left, original name "Neues Gebäu"). The memorial is an trigonal obelisk as remembrance to the association of the alliance of the "Three Allies" to Davos in 1436. The inscription on each of the three sides of the obelisk is in German, Italian and French language and means: "Alliance of the X (= Roman "10") Courts" (or Justs...?) to Davos. The X Courts have vowed and sworn that they want shall helped each other." (translation from Old German).
The country name "Graubünden" comes from these political tripartite alliance of 1436. "Vazerol" is the name of the original meeting place nearby Davos where was closed this alliance.
Deutsch: Der so-genannte "Vazerol-Obelisk" auf dem "Regierungsplatz" (auch "Vazerolplatz") in Chur (Kanton Graubünden, Schweiz) mit Blick auf die "Reichsgasse" und dem dort befindlichen "Grauen Haus" (das Haus links im Hintergrund, Originalname "Neues Gebäu"). Das Denkmal ist ein trigonaler Obelisk und erinnert and den Zusammenschluss der "Drei Bünde" zu Davos im Jahre 1436 (eventuell ist hier Vazerol gemeint, ein Weiler bei Brienz/Brinzauls). Die vergoldete Inschrift ist auf jeder der drei Seiten des Sockels in deutscher, italienischer und französischer Sprache zu lesen. Sie bedeutet (Text in Altdeutsch): "Bündnis der X (= römische "10") Gerichte (auch "Gerechte" statt "Gerichte" möglich) zu Davos. Die X Gerichte haben gelobt und geschworen, dass sie einander beholfen sond sein. 1436". (kein Schreibfehler)
Der Landesname "Graubünden" stammt von diesem politischen Dreierbündnis von 1436. "Vazerol" ist der Name des ursprünglichen Versammlungsortes in der Nähe von Davos, auf dem dieses Bündnis geschlossen wurde.
