Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Vanadinite, Baryte, Hollandite
Locality: El Kwal, Mibladene (Mibladén; Mibladan; Miblanden), Upper Moulouya lead district, Midelt, Khénifra Province, Meknès-Tafilalet Region, Morocco (Locality at mindat.org)
Size: 14.3 x 9.6 x 7.9 cm.
Beautifully gemmy and lustrous, cherry-red, tabular vanadinite prisms to 6 mm are richly sprinkled on the cabinet matrix of solid baryte. The coating of black hollandite on the baryte blades is a stark contrast to the red vanadinites and snow-white baryte. These vanadinite have the color and gemminess of fine spinel crystals, but are not. This showy and excellent large piece is from the much less well-known El Kwal deposit near Mibladen. Ex. Daniel Trinchillo Sr. Collection. This piece probably dates to the 1970s or 1980s.
