Summary
[edit]DescriptionVan Hüsrev Paşa Mosque 4072.jpg |
English: The courtyard of the Hüsrev Paşa Mosque, built in 1567 for Köse (Koca) Hüsrev Paşa, Beylerbeyi (Ottoman governor) at the time. It lies north of the mosque and has a ‘şadırvan’ (fountain for ritual ablutions) in its center.
The arched galleries are part of a U-shaped medrese (high school) with cells for the resident students, and a larger ‘dershane’ (classroom) in the west. The name of the architect of the complex is uncertain, but mostly the great Mimar Sinan is cited. The courtyard, the fountain and the medrese were rebuilt in the early 2010s. |
