The first stage of the United Launch Alliance Delta II rocket that will launch the Joint Polar Satellite System-1 (JPSS-1) is lifted from horizontal to vertical at Space Launch Complex 2 on Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. JPSS, a next-generation environmental satellite system, is a collaborative program between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NASA. Launch is targeted for March 27, 2017.
