[edit]DescriptionUp to Him - Lute Pease.jpg |
English: "Up to Him"
Great Britain’s part in the war was not confined to controlling the seas. Her troops together with those of her many colonies held a good part of the fine on the western front. The staunchness of their defensive action is evidenced by Field Marshal Haig’s famous message to his men on April 13 , 1918: “Every position must be held to the last man. There must be no retirement. With our backs to the wall and believing in the justice of our cause, every one of us must fight to the end.” |
