Summary
[edit]DescriptionUnderpass at Picket Post, New Forest - geograph.org.uk - 296678.jpg |
English: Underpass at Picket Post, New Forest There are two underpasses beneath the A31 at Picket Post. The more westerly one (not shown here) is part of the grade-separated junction at the Picket Post services, and is gridded to keep animals off the main road. The underpass in this photo allows animals and humans (on foot, bike or horseback) to cross the road safely, and is the most westerly such underpass in the Forest. In the shadow you can just make out a pair of gates that can be used to help restrict the movement of commoners stock (a measure that was not readily available during the foot and mouth outbreak a few years ago). |
