Title
Uncertain Roman object, possibly an ear ring
Description
English: A worn cast copper-alloy object of probable Roman date, possibly an ear ring or similar item. It has an oval section shaft that tapers at one end to a sharp point. At the opposite end it expands before curving back onto itself where it has a flat oval shaped terminal. Although worn, with a mid green patina and some pitting, it does not appear to have any decoration. In its current form the object measures 21.73mm in length, 2.11mm in width at shaft, 9.25mm in width at terminal, 5.82mm in total thickness (1.46mm at shaft, 0.78mm at terminal), and 0.69g in weight.

The precise function of this object remains uncertain Its appearance and findspot suggest a Roman date, and it is plausible that it may have been an ear ring or other similar decorative item. It is likely to date to the Roman period, c.43-410 AD.
