| Description |
English: Umberslade Obelisk. Currently surrounded by a head high field of corn, this Obelisk was erected by Thomas Archer, the Baron of nearby 523920 in around 1740. The reason he had it erected however remains a matter of conjecture. Some say it relates to his interest in astronomy whilst other views are that it marks a burial site.
Whatever the reason, the obelisk is a clear landmark for travellers on the M40 near the junction with the M42 at the Umberslade junction. |
