Summary
[edit]DescriptionUlla Rinman 01.jpg |
My home for a week at Svalbard in March 2015 - Ulla Rinman. Ulla Rinman was originally built in Sweden in 1970 and was used by Sjöräddningen as a rescue vessel in the Baltic Sea. Its inch thick steel hull makes it a good vessel for icy waters so after it was decommissioned it was bought by a group of investors on Svalbard, to be used as an explorer vessel in the Arctic. Because all hotel rooms in Longyearbyen were booked years in advance my small group ended up staying on Ulla Rinman instead, which made my stay on Svalbard even more exotic. |
