[edit]DescriptionUS Navy Aircraft Carrier USS John C Stennis MOD 45153514.jpg |
English: American aircraft carrier USS John C Stennis is pictured from the Royal Navy frigate HMS St Albans during a helicopter transfer between the two ships.
HMS ST Albans caught up with a United States Carrier Strike Force in order to replenish her fuel levels from the tanker USNS Rainier. Upon taking station behind the Task group for the replenishment, St Albans was to await the Aircraft Carrier USS John C Stennis to finish her business with the American tanker first. Whilst St Albans replenished from the tanker USS Mobile Bay was receiving vital stores by Vertical Replenishment (VERTREP) utilising the Rainier's helicopters. HMS ST Albans was deployed for 6 months to the Middle East and returned to the UK in December.
