English: BOSTON (June 28, 2007) – Cmdr. John Beaver, USS Bulkeley (DDG 84) commanding officer, addresses a welcome committee of Boston officials as the ship begins a port visit to kick off Boston Navy Week. Several events are planned for the crew of the Norfolk-based guided-missile destroyer including a community service project at the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, a “Caps for Kids” visit to the Jimmy Fund Clinic at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and presentation of colors at a Boston Red Sox game. The week is one of 26 Navy Weeks planned across America in 2007. Navy Weeks are designed to show Americans the investment they have made in their Navy and increase awareness in cities that do not have a significant Navy presence.
