English: Pacific Ocean (July 31, 2004) - Ship's Serviceman Seaman Antonio Elley of Brooklyn, N.Y., receives a haircut from Ship's Serviceman Seaman Louis Redmon of Olmstead, Fla., in the barbershop aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Kitty Hawk is one of seven carrier strike groups (CSGs) involved in Summer Pulse 2004 which is the deployment of seven carrier strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide credible combat capability across the globe, in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Underway, Kitty Hawk's barbershop staff is capable of giving 80 haircuts per day. The Kitty Hawk Strike Group is one of seven carrier strike groups (CSGs) involved in Summer Pulse 2004, demonstrating the Navy's ability to provide credible combat power across the globe in five theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is the Navy's first test of its new Fleet Response Plan (FRP). Currently under way in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), Kitty Hawk demonstrates power projection and sea control as the world's only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier, operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
