English: Aboard USS Mount Whitney (LCC/JCC 20) Dec. 31, 2002 -- Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class Wesley Stainbrook disconnects a pallet during an underway replenishment (UNREP) with the Military Sealift Command combat stores ship USNS Niagara Falls (T-AFS 3). An UNREP is the method by which provisions, ammunition and fuel are transferred from one ship to another at sea. The technique enables a fleet or naval formation to remain at sea for prolonged periods of time. The Mount Whitney and her embarked Marines are deployed to the Horn of Africa region to participate in Operation Enduring Freedom and the continuing war on terrorism.
