English: 020127-F-0000X-001
Eastern Mediterranean Sea (Jan. 27, 2002) A SH-60B "Seahawk" helicopter from Light Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Four Six (HSL-46) monitors the activities aboard the merchant vessel Hajji Rahmeh, as a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) from the Sixth Fleet Command Ship USS La Salle (AGF 3) comes alongside to execute a compliant Maritime Interdiction Operation (MIO). The U.S. Navy, in cooperation with coalition nations has increased surveillance of merchant activities in the Mediterranean, in effort to deny the use of merchant shipping for any activities associated with terrorism. Compliant boarding operations are done with the cooperation of the ship's Master and crew. U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Blake R. Borsic. (RELEASED) |
