English: Guadelupe Flores, a World War II Veteran from Toledo, Ohio, was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company. 1st Battalion, 501 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. He is seen here tucking in some chow with the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, USAG Schinnen Family Readiness Group at their barbecue stall during a day of celebration on the on the only U.S. Army garrison in the Netherlands Sept. 19, 2009. Flores jumped in during the Normandy invasion and participated in Operation Market Garden in 1944. He also was in Bastogne Dec. 16, 1944 to Jan. 30, 1945. He was part of a group of other World War II Veterans touring the Benelux area to attend Operation Market Garden Commemorations. Their group is supported by the Operation Market Garden Committee, the Greatest Generation Foundation, and were escorted by students from the College of the Ozarks, from Point Lookout, Missouri. |
