| Description | "Stations" were created every ten miles along Tamiami Trail, to help motorists and to have a police officer at the ready in case of an emergency. When Big Cypress Preserve was created in 1974, development all but ceased and the "stations" quietly disappeared. During 1995-1996, the alignment of Tamiami Trail was modified when new bridges and drainage culverts were created, creating slight deviations from the original routing of US 41 / Tamiami Trail. |
