DIEGO GARCIA, British Indian Ocean Territory (Oct. 25, 2022) – Chief Warrant Officer 2 Lester Jones, port operations officer for U.S. Navy Support Facility (NSF) Diego Garcia, works with Sailors assigned to the Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS West Virginia (SSBN-736) during the mooring process as part of a scheduled port visit to NSF Diego Garcia. This port visit to Diego Garcia reflects the United States’ commitment to the Indo-Pacific region, and complements the many exercises, training, operations, and the other military cooperation activities conducted by Strategic Forces to ensure they are available and ready to operate around the globe at any time. West Virginia is one of six ballistic-missile submarines stationed at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia, and is capable of carrying up to 20 submarine –launched ballistic missiles with multiple warheads.
