English: An E-2C Hawkeye assigned to the "Black Eagles" of Airborne Early Warning Squadron 113, attempts an arrested recovery on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. The Hawkeye provides all-weather airborne early warning, airborne battle management and command and control functions for the carrier strike group and joint force commander. Ronald Reagan relieved USS Dwight D. Eisenhower as Commander, Task Force 50 July 6, and launched its first sorties into Afghanistan to support Operation Enduring Freedom. Ronald Reagan is currently deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. Operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations are focused on reassuring regional partners of the United States' commitment to security, which promotes stability and global prosperity. |
