Description The U.S. Navy destroyer escort USS Edward McDonnell (DE-1043) under construction at Avondale Shipyards, Westwego, Louisiana (USA), circa 1963. Edward McDonnell was launched in January 1964 and commissioned on 15 February 1965. Note the massive dome of the AN/SQS-26 sonar.
