Summary

[edit]
Description Patch of the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Davis (DD-937). The seal, designed by Miss Susan Anne Walker of Newport, Rhode Island (USA), centers around a Griffin from the Davis family coat of arms. The ship's name, and motto, "Peace Through Vigilance," encircle the Griffin, interlaced with two stars to signify the ship's being recommissioned [1970]. The anchor at the center lends a nautical motif, while the mooring line and anchor chain encircling the entire seal are drawn from the seal of the U.S. Navy.
