Description
English: Aviation Structural Mechanic 1st Class Sean, Sharpless, right, from Kokomo, Ind., and Aviation Structural Mechanic 1st Class Robert Ready, from Tulsa, Okla., both assigned to the Mighty Shrikes of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 94 perform maintenance on a tail hook fitting to an F/A-18C Hornet in the hangar bay of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). Carl Vinson and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, are on deployment in the 7th Fleet area of operations supporting Valiant Shield. Valiant Shield is a U.S.–only biennial exercise in which participation will focus on the integration of joint training among U.S. forces.
