Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Insignia of the U.S. Navy submarine USS Bluegill (SS-242). This insignia was adopted in 1955, when Bluegill's homeport was changed to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (USA). The design reflected the long range passive sonar capability of the ship. The Hawaiian motto means "trouble (threat) from the deep". Note: between 2 May 1953 and on 15 August 1959 Bluegill was actually designated SSK-242.
