Finn serves as a medic and Matlock serves as a radio operator with Battalion Landing Team 3/1, the ground combat element for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Finn, 24, hails from Prague. Matlock, 22, hails from San Francisco. The unit is currently deployed aboard the amphibious assault ship Makin Island (LHD 8) as part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group (MKIARG), which is a U.S. Central Command theater reserve force. The group is also providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility. |
