Carol McKenzie, commanding officer, USS Germantown answers questions during a media availability event after pulling into Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority aboard the USS Germantown (LSD 42). The Germantown pulled into port to unload Marines and equipment that are currently participating in the bilateral Amphibious Assault Exercise. PHIBLEX improves interoperability of forces and readiness of units throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The 31st MEU is operating in support of the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade for the exercise, is the only continuously forward-deployed MEU and remains the United States’ force in readiness in the Asia-Pacific region. |
