Description
English: Lance Cpl. Andrew Andrakowicz, aviation informations systems specialist with Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 224, practices the technique of applying a tourniquet to the arm of Cpl. Christopher Ilas, aviation operations specialist with VMFA(AW)-224, during a simulated combat casualty training session Sept. 8. A tourniquet is a device used to control arterial circulation in an attempt to stop traumatic bleeding. When applied to the arm, the tourniquet should be placed high on the upper arm near the shoulder.
