English: Marines with Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, clear rooms as they maneuver through a simulated combat town June 20, 2010, at Hawthorne Army Depot, Nev., during Javelin Thrust 2010. Weapons Co. was rehearsing for the final exercise of Javelin Thrust 2010, which will imitate current operations in Afghanistan. The Marines met with village elders to ask for help in dealing with insurgents. While talking with the elders, insurgent role players opened fire and the Marines had to clear the town of enemy combatants. In the final exercise, senior leaders will evaluate how the units react to changing situations. The exercise is designed to prepare units for their roles in a deployed Marine Air Ground Task Force. |
