BLT 1/9 hospital corpsmen and surgeon treated several patients of various ailments and injuries to La Gonave Island after the devastating earthquake in Haiti that occurred Jan. 12. 24th MEU was quick to respond to the need of medical provisions after a swift assessment the day prior. 24th MEU, in conjunction with Nassau Amphibious Ready Group, remains to be among the most flexible and expedient units to support a variety of humanitarian assistance at a moment’s notice.
