English: AR RAMADI, Iraq (March 21, 2005) - Twenty-two-year-old Cpl. Nicholas J. Boire, squad leader, 2nd Platoon, Company C, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, of Minnetonka, Minn., speaks on his radio while Fadile, an interpreter for infantry battalion, points to vehicles that have been searched at the entry control point set up on the edge of the South Bridge here. Twenty-two-year-old Cpl. Bassem, Iraqi Security Force Commando, monitors traffic on the road. The search criterion for the day was farm equipment and motorcycles. Marines with Company C, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, and ISF Commandos conduct random vehicle searches at the ECP, which is located between Marine Camps Snake Pit and Hurricane Point, around the clock in an effort to prevent explosives and weapons from being brought into the city. The Marines are currently the over watch for the ISF Commandos as they conduct the searches. Between 500 and 1000 vehicles enter the city through the ECP each day. Photo by Cpl. Tom Sloan |
