Faisalabad, September 9, 2016: Mission Director for the United States Agency for International Development John Groarke presided over an event today at the University of Agriculture-Faisalabad during which the United States Government presented 200 bicycles to the university’s Women’s Cycling Club. The donation is part of a grant to empower women in Pakistan’s agriculture sector under USAID’s Gender Equity Program.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that female students rode bicycles on the University’s campus in the 70’s but that this practice declined over time. He expressed appreciation for USAID’s gift.
