Description

TRANSPARENCY “USAID has initiated the revenue protection and theft control cell under which the teams of auditors survey the field to identify damaged, faulty and tampered meters. Surveillance teams identify direct hook connections against which action is taken on the spot. This has helped MEPCO improve asset monitoring and protect its revenue by controlling electricity theft. This proactive surveillance activity is enabling MEPCO to recover its lost units and revenue.” Multan Electric Power Company Commercial Director Malik Imtiaz

(Pictured Above) Surveillance of MEPCO’s Distribution Network: Surveillance teams have been formed with help of MEPCO employees who know the area and distribution network. The Power Distribution Program is providing auditors and resources, i.e. vehicles and testing tools, to facilitate the surveillance activity. Teams select the random area to perform the activity. They test and verify each consumer connection in the area. Should an abnormality be detected, the case officer is responsible for registering the complaint against the consumer(s) responsible and the appropriate action taken.
