| Description | On the ocean floor, a shipwreck can harbor new life. Here, the German U-boat U-352 rests off the coast of North Carolina. Sunk in 1942 by the USCGC Icarus, today U-352 is a vibrant habitat for multiple species of marine life. This photograph was taken on a recent research dive by Monitor National Marine Sanctuary maritime archaeologists.
