The Nepalese Government requested the U.S. Government’s assistance after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the country, April 25, 2015. U.S. Marines from III Marine Expeditionary Force came together with other U.S. services to form Joint Task Force 505. JTF-505 will work in conjunction with USAID and the international community to provide unique capabilities to assist Nepal.
