Summary
[edit]DescriptionUşak Atatürk Ve Kurtuluş Anıtı - Monument for Atatürk and Independence 2348.jpg |
English: A website states, translated and condensed: The monument, designed by Tankut Öktem, is 30 meters long and 17 meters high. It shows figures gathered in three main groups on a pedestal. In the first group, there are cavalry figures symbolizing the liberation of Uşak by the Turkish cavalry. The Victory Column rises on the pedestal, symbolizing that the Turkish Nation cannot be imprisoned and will live forever free. In front of this column, there are figures of young girls and boys carrying Atatürk and books on science and art. In the third group, there are female figures symbolizing the heroism and courage of Turkish women, and an oxcart loaded with bullets. Some of Atatürk's words on art, culture and the Republic are quoted. |
