| Description |
Tyrrell Field Station is located in Dinosaur Provincial Park and is nowhere near Drumheller, it's much closer to Brooks. This area has a very large amount of dinosaur bones and fossils along with plant fossils embedded into the clay. The picturesque Alberta Badlands is a rich fossil area home to many many species and new ones are still being discovered. There are some interesting guided tours that you can take to explore Dinosaur Provincial Park. There are certain perserved areas that are off limits to the general public and can only be access via guided tours. We went with the $15 option and it was well worth it. There are much more expensive options where you can do some hands-on digging, but seeing and touching fossils will do for me. The hike was very enjoyable and I've never been on terrain like this outside of the Drumheller hoodoos. Much more impressive than the Calgary Zoo badlands. Our guide Katrina was excellent and very knowledgeable. Makes a huge difference when you're dealing with someone so passionate and loves what they do. Thanks! |
