Summary
[edit]DescriptionTwyford Pumping Station - lime kilns and industrial railway (geograph 4156814).jpg |
English: Twyford Pumping Station - lime kilns and industrial railway. Until WWII Twyford burnt its own lime for use in water softening and this rare set of flare kilns survive in good order along with much of the associated plant. In the foreground is a Lister locomotive on the site's industrial railway. Although the site has been unable to steam since 2003, there is still an awful lot of interest for the visitor and it is intended to be back in steam in 2015. |
