Two piece shoe or knee buckle, c.1660-1720.
Description
English: Cast copper alloy two piece buckle, oval shoe or knee buckle with drilled frame to take the separate iron spindle. The upper surface of the frame is decorated with multiple transverse grooves. The spindle, pin and stud chape are present, but the chape is broken across with hole for the stud, and the stud is missing. Length 27.52mm, width 20.65mm, thickness 4.46mm, weight 4.67g. See Whitehead (1996) p98 for similar buckles, particularly no.608.
