Description

Looking down from the Falls (out of the picture behind the rocks) this photo shows the lowest of the Mammoth Lakes, Twin Lakes. It is fed by water coming down from Lake Mamie which is behind the camera.

I found the name Twin Lakes confusing. From this view you seem to see one long lake with two bridges across narrow spots. In the foreground is a shallow and marshy body of water which is called Upper Twin Lakes. Then beyond separated by a foot bridge (enlarge photo to see more clearly) is what they call Twin Lakes.
