Description

In 1919 a Canadian Curtis HS-2L Patrol Plane landed at Turn Point to deliver mail to Canadian personnel studying tides. The Empress of Russia liner is in the background.

Historic photos of the lighthouses in the San Juan Islands National Monument. Originally managed by the U.S. Coast Guard, many of these properties have transferred to the BLM for preserving.
