Description
English: U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Randy Kee, director of U.S. European Command strategy and policy, talks to a group of Turkish flag officers during a senior leaders seminar at the joint U.S.-German George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany Feb. 18. The seminar brought together about a dozen newly selected Turkish flag officers to receive an orientation into national security strategy processes and products, democratic control of armed forces, defense planning in an age of austerity, and meeting emerging global challenges. The three-day event also included discussion of transnational events like terrorism, cyber security, corruption and other topics in which the Marshall Center offers programs. The Marshall Center is one of five DOD regional centers and is the only one located outside the United States and partnered with another nation (Germany). The center sees about 800 participants over eight resident courses while conducting as many as 200 outreach programs in the region each year. The event ended Feb. 20.
