Summary

[edit]
Description
English: In the 1200's, Tulum was an important Mayan seaport along the Yucatan coast. It was the only Mayan city built on a coast. It remained inhabited well after the arrival of the Spanish.

This is the Temple of the Frescoes. On the front corners of the first floor are stucco masks.

A close-up of a corner stucco mask. You can still see remnants of paint on the mask.

What surprised me was that the majority of the people walking by did not notice the corner masks.
