Description
English: A truth window. This is an external wall (seen from the interior). The wall is strawbale coated with a sand, lime and cement render providing an insulation value of R8 (Australian). The house is designed and built by the owners, who are sustainable architects and builders. The strawbales have not been compacted. The owner/architect/builders have experience building strawbale houses and have found a covering not to be necessary for the truth window (others fear moisture will get into the walls and cause the hay to become mouldy, but the owner/architects say any moisture that goes in will come out again, and have experienced no problems with this kind of design). Muskvale, Victoria, Australia.
