Nederlands: Litho. Ingekleurde litho door Petit naar een tekening van Théodore Bray (no. 14/25). Lichtgekleurde huisslavin op een plantage die bezig is met naaiwerk. Tijdens de slavernij bestonden er drie soorten slaven: plantageslaven, die op het veld moesten werken, huisslaven die huishoudelijke taken moesten verrichten, en dan nog eliteslaven, die een voorkeurspositie hadden verworven t.o.v. anderen. Vaak waren zij degene die de slaven in bedwang moesten houden, of moesten straffen bij overtredingen. Dit systeem was handig voor de blanke overheerser, het verdeel-en-heers-systeem, waarbij onderdrukten elkaar beconcureerden voor betere posities en leefomstandigheden..
