Summary
[edit]DescriptionTrikuta Shivalaya Number 3, Palampet Telangana 28.jpg |
English: Palampet was a major city before the 14th-century, now it is a small village with many large temple ruins, including the restored Ramappa temple – a UNESCO world heritage site.
To the southwest of the Ramappa temple compound walls, is the ruined temple above. It is a trikuta temple that was originally dedicated to Shiva (it has been incorrectly identified by some blogs as Gollatha Gudi – which this is not; Gollatha Gudi is an important and old Jain temple that is quite some distance from Palampet). This temple is damaged and mutilated, but what remains in impressive. The temple is now a bit more restored than when archaeology team led by Ghulam Yazdani first visited this place. For more details, please see Memoirs of the ASI Number 6, authored by Ghulam Yazdani. |
