Summary

[edit]
Description
English: In the post-Mauryan period a tribal society at Kosambi (modern Allahabad) made cast copper coinage with and without punchmarks. Their coinage resemble the Damaru-drum. All such coinage has been attributed to the Kosambi. These coins were found in a hoard dated to c. the 1st century BC. Many Indian museums, such as the National Museum, have these coins in their collections. Sharma, Savita "Damaru-shaped Coins from Kausambi" in Society of Bombay.
