Description

Trapelia involuta (Taylor) Hertel, 1973

Photograph of asci from T. involuta stained with Iodine (Lugol's soln.) after pretreatment with KOH.   Photographed through a compound microscope, x 400.

This herbariuim specimen of T. involuta was growing on a small, flat, sandstone rock along the trail up Black Mountain, just S of Tunk Lake, NE of Ellsworth in Hancock County, Maine, USA (Lat. 44o35' N,   Long. 68o06' W,   elevation 200 meters).

Collected and identified by E.C. Uebel (No. U-574-1, 11 Jul 2005).
